AUDITOR ORDERS FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO HOUSING OF FOSTER CHILDREN

DOZENS OF  FOSTER CHILDREN IN KENTUCKY…..RANGING FROM TEENS TO TODDLERS…..SPENT NIGHTS SLEEPING IN SOCIAL SERVICES BUILDINGS AWAITING

PLACEMENT BY A STATE AGENCY…..ACCORDINGTO A PRELIMINARY REVIEW THAT HAS SPURRED KENTUCKY AUDITOR ALLISON BALL TO ORDER A BROADER

INVESTIGATION……

 

THE INVESTIGATION ANALYZED 49 CASES OF FOSTER CHILDREN SPENDING THE NIGHT IN STATE OFFICE BUILDING DURING A FOUR MONTH PERIOD……AND

THE REVIEW FOUND THAT THE 49 KIDS SPENT A COMBINED 198 DAYS IN STATE OFFICE BUILDINGS….WITH ONE CHILD SPENDING 35 DAYS IN A STATE OFFICE

BUILDING…….

 

THE AUDITOR’S OFFICE SAID IT HAS ALSO RECEIVE REPORTS THAT SOME OF THE KIDS WERE HOUSED IN HOTELS OR OTHER NONTRADITIONAL PLACES…..AND

THOSE  LOCATIONS WILL BE INCLUDED INTHE DEEPER INVESTIGATION……
