TROOPER JONATHAN MCCHESNEY OF THE KENTUCKY STATE POLICE MADE A TRAFFIC STOP ON A 2016 NISSAN SUV AT
THE 50 MILE MARKER SOUTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 65 TODAY (FRI) WHEN HE OBSERVED THE VEHICLE TRAVELING 95
MILES PER HOUR. WHEN HE MADE CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT SHE WAS ALSO UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL.  ALSO IN THE VEHICLE WERE TWO OTHER ADULT FEMALES, ONE WHO WAS HOLDING A SMALL
INFANT IN HER LAP, ALONG WITH FIVE OTHER SMALL CHILDREN AGES 1, 3, 4, 7, AND 10 IN THE VEHICLE UNRESTRAINED.

CENTER AND CHARGED WITH WANTON ENDANGERMENT, SIX COUNTS… OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL, AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCE…RECKLESS DRIVING….SPEEDING 25 MILES OVER THE SPEED
LIMIT…. NO DRIVERS LICENSE…BOOSTER SEAT VIOLATIONS…. AND FAILURE TO USE CHILD RESTRAINT DEVICES…

THE KENTUCKY OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY AND THE KENTUCKY STATE POLICE ARE REMINDING MOTORISTS TO
BUCKLE UP AS LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE JOIN THE NATIONWIDE CLICK IT OR TICKET
SEAT BELT ENFORCEMENT MOBILIZATION MAY 23 THROUGH JUNE 5.

THERE WERE 761 TOTAL HIGHWAY FATALITIES IN KENTUCKY IN 2015, WITH 588 KILLED IN MOTOR VEHICLES.  OF THOSE
588 FATALITIES, 358 (61 PERCENT) WERE UNRESTRAINED.  SIX OF THOSE MOTOR VEHICLE FATALITIES OCCURRED OVER
THE MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY.  NONE WERE WEARING A SEAT BELT.
KENTUCKY HAS A PRIMARY SEAT BELT LAW, MEANING EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO BUCKLE UP WHILE IN A MOVING
VEHICLE.

A 2014 SEAT BELT USAGE SURVEY BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY TRANSPORTATION CENTER SHOWS KENTUCKY’S
OVERALL SEAT BELT USAGE RATE AS 86.7 PERCENT.  HOWEVER, THE USAGE RATE FOR PICKUP TRUCKS IS THE LOWEST
OF ALL VEHICLES AT 79 %.  THE USAGE RATE FOR VANS IS 88% AND SUVS IS 89%.

CALLED OUT JUST BEFORE TWO TO LOOK FOR A POSSIBLE DROWNING VICTIM AT THE PORT OLIVER BOAT RAMP AT
BARREN RIVER LAKE..


A CALL CAME IN FROM A GLASGOW/METCALF RESIDENT WHO SEEN A BOAT AND A PERSON ON IT AND A MERE TEN
MINUETS LATER NO LONGER SEEN THE BOATER. THE BOAT, TROLLING MOTOR AND FISHING POLES WERE IN THE BOAT
AND THE FISHERMAN WAS NOT.

THE KENTUCKY DIVISION OF FORESTRY  HAS DISPATCHED FOUR FIREFIGHTERS TO HELP WITH THEE OKLAHOMA
WILDFIRES.....

THE FOUR FIREFIGHTERS  AND TWO ENGINES S MAY BE ON ASSIGNMENT FOR UP TO  14-DAYS BEFORE RETURNING
HOME......

ARCING POWER LINE CAUSED THE  FIRE.....WHICH HAS BURNED  OVER 55-THOUSAND ACRES......

BUT THE TITANS PRESEASON SCHEDULE  HAS BEEN RELEASED....

TENNESSEE  WILL OPEN THE PRE-SEASON  WITH HOME GAME AGAINST SAN DIEGO AND CAROLINA.....AND THEN BE ON
THE ROAD FOR GAMES  AT OAKLAND AND MIAMI......
